Disappointing Dinner

For three months we planned a fund-raising dinner in Hastings for the 25th October. This entailed organising a menu, drawing up and printing posters, artwork for tickets and purchasing special card for printing. Over 100 invitations were sent out to all our contacts in the Hastings area but I regret that there were hardly any supporters and we had to cancel the dinner. The price was only £15 to include live music, hot food, lovely sweets, etc. This took a lot of our time when we could otherwise have been working with the horses. We endeavour to keep our costs as low as possible by doing all the printing and artwork ourselves.

I don’t know the reason why people didn’t want to support this; was it too expensive? You only have to go to a Christmas dinner somewhere which doesn’t even have live music and you will have no change from £25 and that’s not even for a charity!

The next dinner on the 14th December is only £9 to include a live 5-piece jazz band and already we have many takers. This will definitely go ahead but it seems that while £9 is OK £15 is not whether or not it’s for charity!
